Marcus Cor Von
by Andy Covell
Revolution Format
I picked this deck, cause Monty, I mean Marcus is one of my favorites when he was on TN...I mean is on ECW. So therefore, I decided to pick him. However, I have a feeling this is going to be the hardest deck I have ever put together...So here is an attempt...(actually giving a long sigh right now, as his Ability is truly limiting. lol)
Marcus Cor Von (Superstar Card)
Starting Hand Size: 7
Superstar Value: 1
Extremist <Superstar Crossed Out> Ability:
Once during each of your turns, you may discard 1 Extreme: your next Extreme this turn is -4F.
Ok. Ummm...yeah. This is going to be hard. Average-below average Handsize, and a very low Superstar Value. He can lower his Extreme Maneuvers by 4 Fortitude. This is what I get out of this. To even play a Maneuver, he has to basically gets 2 cards out of his hand. (Booo). One for the discard, and one to play the Maneuver. His hand depletes quickly. If opponent reverses your Extreme that you play off of your Ability, you now lose 2 cards and it is the opponent's turn. OMG. How are we going to make it possible for him to even get a chance in today's meta game...Hmmm...Where there is a will, hopefully there will be a way....
BACKLASH (12)
Pre-match (6)
A New Plan x1
Climbing the Ladder x1
<ECW logo> World Title Belt x1
Kelly Kelly’s Exposé x1
McMahon Family Jewels x1
The New Breed x1
Strategy Notes: With these cards, you do have a chance to be a contender. Always play The New Breed, so you can get effects from your opponent reversing your Means.
McMahon Family Jewels will be useful to make up for the cards Cor Von is going to lose using his Ability, which brings us to Climbing the Ladder, which will increase his hand by 2 from his Means, which makes him break even, until he has enough fortitude to just unleash all hell.
The ECW belt is going to enable him to grab the Extreme Means to get ready to discard 1 in order to play the other. +1 Value isn't going to make or break Cor Von. Actually, I wish it didn't give an increase in Value. Kelly Kelly's Expose is there for a Core or a Mean if needed. A New Plan for obvious reasons.
Mid-match (6)
Before This Get's Out Of Hand x1
Boot Lace x1
Keep Your Eyes Open or It's Game Over x1
One for the Money… x1
Spining Crescent Kick x1
Talk is Cheap x1
Strategy Notes: This is a decent reversal base for Mr. Cor Von. Boot Lace is great for Marcus, as all he has to do is discard an Extreme to play this when it's his first turn(Almost always will go 2nd) and will have less Fortitude. One for the Money is going to be the big card to pull off if possible, because that's going to get you a Faction card, and a series of other cards that can ruin any deck running large amounts of Antics! Spinning Crescent Kick will become a F: 2 D: 10 Mid-match if you don't have 2 Extremes in your hand to do some damage. If uneasy, which I am debating, you could get rid of that for another copy of Before This Get's Out of Hand. Boot Lace will be a very easy card to play with Cor Von.
ARSENAL (60)
Superstar-specifics (5)
A Bloody Nightmare x1
Here’s a Lesson Plan x1
Prepare for the POUNCE x1
The Alpha Male x1
The Elijah Experience x1
Strategy Notes: The Alpha Male is a game ending Antic. If you get this off, it is a lot like a I'm Tougher Than Nails re-set button, except you can only grab Extremes, and you don't have to condense your hand. Plus your opponent has to overturn lots of stuff! Awesome card if you get the chance to pull it off.
A Bloody Nightmare is going to be the card you will usually get when you play One For the Money...as when you get A Bloody Nightmare into play, it's going to be a huge boost to your Faction, when all your Extremes that get reversed causes your opponent to discard a card! Here's a Lesson Plan stops extremes, no complaints there. Prepare for the POUNCE is going to be able to make more use of your Extreme reversals. The Elijah Experience is a nice Mean Extreme to fuel The New Breed, and can be used to play it at F: 2 wth Cor Von's Ability!!!!
Antics (1)
Four Now Go, Cat Go! x1
Strategy Notes: This is just to destroy Antic decks. Lots of times this card may not see play. Good insurance if playing against Randy Orton.
Antic-Reversal Hybrids (0)
Strategy Notes: I decided this is not the route to go, so they are not included in the deck.
Maneuvers (21)
A New Breed Unleashed x1
Caught in the Ropes x3
Flying Clothesline x5
Garbage Can Lid x3
Into the Barricade x3
Struck by an Unknown Foreign Object x2
Struck by a Singapore Cane x3
Three to Get Ready… x1
Strategy Notes: All these cards but 1 are Extreme. They enable high end damage with little Fortitude. Flying Clothesline is the only card that is a Follow-up, as come late game, you don't want to sit on these cards that need a Maneuver to play before them. You can switch Flying Clothesline with Suicide Plancha if you want for more damage and cost the same amount of Fortitude, but I like the effect of Flying Clothesline when I make my opponent discard a card. The other cards are very Low Fortitude cards, with Cor Von's Ability, make it decrease even less. I will show the cards that, with being an Extremist, and use Cor Von's Ability, the actual cost of the cards Fortitude.
A New Breed Unleashed: Always F: 0 D: 6
Caught in the Ropes: Always F: 0 D: 1
Flying Clothesline: (Ability) F: 1 D: 9
Garbage Can Lid: (Ability and Extremist) F: 1 D: 8
Into the Barricade: (Ability) F: 0 D: 3
Struck by an Unknown Foreign Object: (Ability and Extremist) F: 6 D: 13
Struck by a Singapore Cane: (Ability and Extremist) F: 3 D: 11
So your overall goal is getting only 1 Fortitude, and playing your Flying Clothesline and Garbage Can Lid. Keep in mind you can play these off your F: 0 D: 1 Hybrid Maneuvers and explode in a big Extreme Mean. And if your opponent reverses your Extreme Mean, he will discard 1 card. So the Flying Clothesline is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" game.
Keep note only very few F: 0 Extremes are in this deck, because it's a waste if you try to build your Fortitude from the ground up, cause his whole Ability is to play cards early and go past F: 4!!!!!
Maneuver-Antic Hybrids (0)
Strategy Notes: No need to include more than what you need. No Maneuver/Antics are Extreme, so no need for these.
Maneuver-Reversal Hybrids (17)
Big Boot x2
Chicken Wing x1
Collar & Elbow Lockup x3
Headlock Takedown x3
Inverted Atomic Drop x2
Only One Solution: Revolution x3
Slap x3
Strategy Notes: Basic Reversals for your deck. Cover most of the bases. Extra security in the deck, which i like to do in most of my decks.
Reversals (16)
Inertia x1
I Won’t Be Beat Tonight x1
My Way x1
Not What We Came to See! x2
Outmaneuver x2
Overexposure x2
Try To Get Away x2
Two for the Show… x1
Why Don’t You Kiss My A%$? x3
You Telegraphed It x1
Strategy Notes: Basic reversals with a pinch more Extreme reversals. If Prepare For the POUNCE is in your Ring, you can get extra use out of your Extreme reversals. Anyone without their own Specific Antic reversal should have (in my opinion) at least 3 Antic reversals in your Arsenal.
Final Strategy / Other Notes:
Extreme Means:
This deck is an "eye for an eye" deck, as it loses 2 cards from the hand to use the Ability. Play The New Breed to have opponent cost cards in his hand for reversing your Maneuvers. A great way for Cor Von to start is play the ECW World Title and grab a Garbage Can Lid and Flying Clothesline and get them into your hand. Hopefully at that point, you could discard 1 or the other after you get at least F: 1 and nail a high end Extreme! Before This Get's Out of Hand is going to be rather bothersome, but they only have 3 Mid-match slots. Play Boot Lace if getting low and if you happen to have another Extreme in your hand, play it again! F: 1 also enables you to use One For the Money to grab A Bloody Nightmare to make a few Extreme Cores Means. Obviously that wouldn't be the intial goal, but it would lay down the groundwork to get the Faction benefits of having multiple cards in your Ring, as well as the Antic destruction 1, 2, 3, 4 power of the new Tournament cards.
I think this is a very hard deck to play in the first place, and my best attempt at making a potential Raw deal deck to be reckoned with. Hopefully, with more time on the Mic, and more time dominating opponents, the Alpha Male can actually become the ECW World Champion. Now if only CI created The Pounce, my Cor Von deck would be EXTREMELY happy!
