Undertaker
by Justin “The Devil” Brook
Revolution Format

Well, I already posted one Undertaker article, and I’m back with another. Taking that into account, I want to show everybody that each and every Superstar has more than one way to be built. For this deck, I chose to incorporate the Undertaker’s Storyline card. Let’s take a look at it.

203/206 (ULTRA RARE – FOIL – Undertaker + Deadman)
The Conscience of the <WWE logo>
Pre-match: Storyline
Draw 3 cards.
New Superstar Ability:
The first printed Mean of each of your turns cannot be reversed by F:0 cards.
Once per game, during your turn, you may put all cards in your hand on the bottom of your Arsenal: put up to 1 Assault, up to 1 Hold, up to 1 Throw, and up to 1 Reversal from your Ringside into your hand.
Unique

This deck is going to focus solely on playing Extreme Means and Undertaker’s Superstar Specific Means to take advantage of his new ability. It helps a lot when your opponent can’t use cards like Before This Gets Out of Hand or Try To Get Away to reverse the first Mean of your turn. I chose not to pack any Assault, Throw, or Hold Means because those are much easier to reverse, and the reversals hurt more too.

BACKLASH (12)

Pre-match (6)

A New Plan x1
Judgment Day x1
The Conscience of the WWE x1
The New Breed x1
Tomorrow’s WWE Legends x1
You’re Drafted x1

Alright, for the Pre-match phase your normal setup will usually be these 4 cards in this order.
1. You’re Drafted (draw 1)
2. Tomorrow’s WWE Legends
3. The New Breed
4. The Conscience of the WWE (draw 3)

Judgment Day and A New Plan are there in case you do not want to play one of your factions for some reason. It is highly unlikely though that you will ever play either of these cards. With the Pre-match cards I just provided you with, your starting hand size should be about a 10 which is much improved from a 6. Also, with your 2 factions, you now have some more nice cards to fool around with.

Mid-match (6)

Before This Gets Out Of Hand x1
Caution: You’re Entering the O-Zone x1
Layla: WWE Diva to the Core x1
Spinning Crescent Kick x2
Talk is Cheap x1

Ah, here we are at the Mid-match. You have your usual staple reversals in Before This Gets Out of Hand and Talk is Cheap. Caution: You’re Entering the O-Zone is a very nice Colossal reversal for 8 fortitude and it lets you get rid of a card in your opponent’s ring. Layla: WWE Diva to the Core is there to fetch you A New Breed Unleashed or a couple of Core reversals that you might need. Finally, you have 2 Spinning Crescent Kick. Since you are an Extremist, you get to play this card for 6 fortitude, and remember about your ability. As soon as you get the chance to play this card, do so, as long as it is the first printed Mean of your turn. Your opponent will probably have a difficult time reversing it.

ARSENAL (60)

Superstar-Specifics (8)

Deadman’s Big Boot x1
Demon of Death Valley’s Chokeslam x1
Old School! x1
Red Devil’s Snake Eyes x1
The End x1
The Lord of Darkness x1
The Phenom’s Streak x1
Tombstone Piledriver x1

With the Undertaker’s new ability, he has some nasty Means with some nasty effects to play. Deadman’s Big Boot lets you search for a non-unique and add it into your hand. For 6 fortitude, you cant complain with that. Old School! lets you get rid of 2 non Pre-match cards in your opponents’ ring, but you have to play it after a successfully played card. It shouldn’t be too hard to accomplish. Finally, my favorite of his 3 Means.

202/206 (STARTER DECK – FOIL – Undertaker + Deadman)
Demon of Death Valley’s Chokeslam
Trademark: Mean
Shuffle up to 15 cards from your Ringside into your Arsenal.
Unique
back
F:18 D:12

So let me get this straight, it can’t be reversed by 0 damage cards with your ability, and you get to shuffle 15 cards into your arsenal? Count me in, this can be game saving if you are in dire need of the recursion. Then, you have 2 great Colossals of his to play next. Red Devil’s Snake Eyes can be picked up whenever it is overturned by discarding a card and then there is the Tombstone Piledriver.

206/206 (ULTRA RARE – FOIL – Undertaker + Deadman)
Tombstone Piledriver
Trademark: Colossal
You may put all cards in your hand on the bottom of your Arsenal: your opponent discards his hand.
Unique

You play this successfully, and then you can activate its effect. If you choose to activate the effect, then your opponent will be at your mercy because of the second ability of The Conscience of the WWE which is, “Once per game, during your turn, you may put all cards in your hand on the bottom of your Arsenal: put up to 1 Assault, up to 1 Hold, up to 1 Throw, and up to 1 Reversal from your Ringside into your hand.” Since you and your opponent won’t have any cards in your hands, you can pick up whatever you please and beat them senseless while keeping a reversal in your hand as well. The Undertaker has 3 more cards we haven’t even begun to talk about yet. First, is The End which is a great omni-reversal that will let you draw 4. Then, you have The Lord of Darkness which is great for hand manipulation and picking up cards from your ringside. Last, but not least is The Phenom’s Streak. This card could basically be an alternate win condition for you. You can make your opponent overturn up to a possible 15 cards! The lower his superstar value, the more he overturns.

Antics (1)

Live Fast-Fight Hard x1

This is a great card to have in your opening hand as it means definite fortitude for you if your opponent is at 0 fortitude. You immediately have access to play any Mean you wish, as well as the Spinning Crescent Kicks in your Backlash.

Maneuvers (11)

A New Breed Unleashed x1
Edge FX x1
Garbage Can Lid x3
Homicidal Lunge x3
The Elijah Experience x1
Toe Smash x2

Not many maneuvers here, but it isn’t needed as you have multiple ways to demolish an opponent with this deck. Toe Smashes, Homicidal Lunges, and A New Breed Unleashed are to get you off the ground and into your Mean range where you can then excel. Once you get into Mean range, you should be set. You have the Edge FX which can be used over and over again once you play it. Combining that with your ability is really nice as long as you can keep discarding 2 cards to put it back into your hand. You also have 3 Garbage Can Lids which can be played at 5 fortitude, as well as The Elijah Experience at 6 fortitude. There are not many cards that aren’t 0 damage that can reverse your Extreme means early in the game, so you shouldn’t have a problem getting early fortitude.

Maneuver-Reversal Hybrids (27)

Arm Bar x3
Belly to Belly Suplex x3
Big Boot x2
Chicken Wing x2
Collar and Elbow Lockup x3
Headlock Takedown x3
Inverted Atomic Drop x2
Only One Solution: Revolution x3
Punch x3
Slap x3

A normal set of Maneuver-Reversal hybrids here. Nothing special here.

Reversals (13)

Here’s A Lesson Plan x1
Inertia x3
Not What We Came to See x3
Overexposure x3
Why Don’t You Kiss My A$$? x3

A normal reversal set here. Overexposure can be played from your hand since you are considered an Extremist so we are packing 3 of them.

As you can see, there is more than 1 way to play each and every Superstar or Extremist. Everybody can be built in a variety of ways as I just exemplified with my 2 different Undertaker articles which I hope everybody enjoyed. Did you choose the Conscience of the WWE? Did you choose not to play the storyline card? Either of the choices you made will be good ones, so don’t spend too much time deciding on one or the other. Thanks for reading and have fun with these 2 different decks!
