It has been said that there is no control in the Revolution format.
Here’s what I Say…
Queue the theme music from 2001: a Space Odyssey…
Let out a big whooooo….
Because here comes the Nature Boy!
Most of the other Ric Flair builds we have seen use his base ability. I’m focusing on the ability he gets when he plays his storyline. The Founder of the Four Horsemen adds +2 to Flair’s starting hand size and a huge +4 to his super star value. Even with these benefits, the ability is what makes this card amazing. Your new ability when you play this card is Replace “Assault” Hold” or “Throw” with “Assault, Hold, and Throw” in the rules bar of your F:0 reversals with “Reversal: Printed #D--#D Assault/Hold/Throw”.
By doing this you no longer need to worry about having the correct reversal in your hand to stop your opponent from playing most maneuvers. Now let’s look at the deck
Back Lash Deck (12)
Pre-Match (6)
Batista is in my Corner
Dressed For Success x2
The Founder of the Four Horsemen
The Nee Breed
WWE Intercontinental Title Belt
In all games you want to play Batista is in my Corner first. Not only does this card give you access up to four of Batista’s Super Star Specifics, it also makes your storyline permanent. Next you want to play the New Breed as this card give you access to the new Breed Faction cards in the deck as well as make you an Extremist. The last pre-match card you will want to play is The Storyline Card. If your opponent plays Batista is in my corner first, don’t worry, just play a Dressed for Success. Not only will this allow you to see more cards, it also increases your starting hand size. If they Play Batista is in my Corner and the WWE Heavyweight Championship Belt, play the WWE Intercontinental Title Belt instead to keep your hand size as large as possible.
Mid-Match (6)
Before This Gets Out Of Hand
I Can Do Anything I Want
Keep Your Eyes Open or its Game Over x2
One For the Money
Talk Is Cheap
Your Mid Match is very strait forward for the most part. Use the Before This Gets Out of Hand and the two Keep Your Eyes Open or It’s Game Over to reverse Means. To handle any Antics your opponent may play use the Talk Is Cheap and the two Keep Your eyes Open. I Can Do anything I Want is a great colossal reversal if needed. The best use for One For the Money, is once you have 2F, search your arsenal for the faction card titled Prepare for the Pounce.
Arsenal (60)
Superstar Specifics (8)
I’ll Chew them Up and Spit them Out
Nature Boy Chop
Profilin’ Shin Breaker
Space Mountain Punch
Still the Man
Stylin’ Low Blow
The Evolved Spine Buster
The Guardian Powerslam
Between the two Batista Trademarks you gain 2 large damage reversals to the three basic move types. The Nature Boy Chop gives the deck some recursion while providing a nice amount of damage to bridge up to the higher fortitude costing reversals. Space Mountain Punch, Profilin’ Shin Breaker and I’ll Chew them Up and Spit them Out all give you hand advantage which is highly important in this deck. Still the Man is a great reversal that once Prepare for the Pounce is in play can reverse any move as well as cards with the momentum trait. Stylin’ Low Blow is one of the best Antic reversals in the game right now and it reverses Follow-ups as well.
Antics (1)
Prepare For the POUNCE
The only true antic that I have included in the deck, might also be the deck’s most important card. Prepare for the Pounce adds the extreme trait to all of your opponent’s non-unique moves. So not only does it allow all of your extreme reversals to reverse any maneuver, it gets around the extra overturn that your opponent’s 4-Ever: No Mercy causes. Because of this effect you have a lot less dead reversals in you hand at all times.
Antic/Reversal Hybrids (3)
Hail to The Chairman X3
The Three Hail to the Chairman cards are very useful in this deck. Because they allow you to cycle through your deck faster and, because you are using your storyline, reverse any non-unique antic that your opponent might play. Plus if your opponent isn’t playing with his story line for every copy you have in play you have to mill two less cards for the aggression rule!
Maneuvers (11)
A New Breed Unleashed
Eye Rake x3
Homicidal Lunge x3
The Elijah Experience
Toe Smash x3
All the pure maneuvers that I have included are Extremes. The reason for this is because Extremes are still the hardest move set to reverse, especially at 0F. Not to mention they do a fair amount of damage on top of being harder to reverse. A New Breed Unleashed is still a very difficult move to reverse as there are no 0F reversals to it at all. The deck is designed not to have to worry about the draw back on Toe Smash because the deck packs zero Follow-Ups. The one card that you do have to be careful about is Homicidal Lunge as this card has to be the first card played on your turn. The Elijah Experience is an excellent maneuver because not only does it do a good amount of damage, it allows you to pick up two other extremes from your ringside pile and put them into your hand. As an added bonus, once you get Prepare for the Pounce into play, it also allows to remove a non-unique card in your opponents ring area.
Antic/Maneuver (0)
To help keep the amount of antics down I have decided not to pack any Antic/Maneuvers.
Maneuver/Reversal Hybrids (16)
Chop x2
Collar & Elbow Lock Up x3
Double Leg Takedown x2
Headlock Takedown x3
Slap x3
Wrist Lock x3
To maximize the effects of The Founder of The Four Horsemen, I have included a large amount of Maneuver/Reversals. This gives you the flexibility of being able to reverse any non extreme maneuver with ease. By being able to keep your opponent from being able to play cores successfully, you will prevent him from being able to cause you too much damage over the course of the game.
Reversals (21)
Here’s a Lesson Plan
Inertia x2
My Way
Not What We Came Here to See x3
Out Maneuver x3
Overexposure x3
That’s Extremely Unoriginal x3
Try to Get Away x2
Two For the Show
Why Don’t You Kiss My A%$? x3
The Mix of reversals that I have included compliments the mid-match, superstar specific and maneuver/reversal hybrids that are in the deck. Once prepare for the Pounce is in play, all of you extreme reversals become that much more powerful as they reverse any non-unique maneuver played by your opponent. Just be careful using your extreme reversals, as one never knows when their opponent is going to throw an extreme. Because you are now an extremist, you can play the card titled Over Exposure from your hand to reverse your opponent’s lager Assaults, Holds and Throws. The Why Don’t You kiss MY A%S when combined with Hail to the Chairman should protect you from your opponent’s antics, while the Inertias protect against momentum. You don’t want to use the Here’s a Lesson Plan until you have Prepare for the Pounce in play so you can gain that card’s recycling ability.
As you can see the most important card in the deck, out side of The Founder of the Four Horsemen is Prepare for the Pounce. While you want to get this car into play as early as possible, don’t rush it. Make sure it’s the first card you play on your turn to avoid having it reversed by Talk Is Cheap or Keep Your Eyes Open or It’s Game Over. Once Pounce is in play, use your extremes and trademarks to build up your Fortitude. If your opponent is not playing many extreme maneuvers, try to save your Hybrid maneuvers to play on your turn to avoid getting hit by the aggression rule. Another thing is to try to get all three copies of Hail to the Chairman into play if your opponent doesn’t have a storyline in play. That way you can just sit back and red wall your opponent to death with out having to worry about the aggression rule at all.
By following all of this advice you should be able to sit back and enjoy an easy victory. Good luck.
